Flint Hill Goods Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video

Hey everybody. Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Flint Hill Goods hitch-mounted steel cargo carrier on our 2022 Mazda CX-9. Now, our carrier here today is going to be made of powder coated steel, which just means that the steel is going to be nice and durable. While the powder coating helps it resist a lot of that corrosion and usually steel is a little bit heavier but our basket only comes in at 25 pounds a day, which is just as much weighs as much as some of our aluminum cargo carriers. So if you wanted to store this in your garage off of your vehicle I don't think it would be any trouble compared to some of those aluminum cargo carriers about the same weight of just kind of mounting it up on the wall since it doesn't weigh as much anymore. more

Now, our basket is going to be made of aluminum, which means it's going to be very lightweight and corrosion resistant, pretty important for driving through the elements. It is only going to weigh 23 pounds, so if you want to store this in your garage off of your vehicle, it is fairly lightweight and being able to just like hang it from a point on your wall perhaps. Now, if you have to keep it on your vehicle though, what kind of dimensions is it going to add to it Well, we're gonna go and take our tape measure, put it on our bumper, and measure the furthest point out, seeing that we're only adding on about 25 1/2 inches to the back of our vehicle. We did look this up earlier, and you probably do have about 16 to 17 inches of space to stack up on your items before you start to interfere with your full hatch clearance. more

Our carrier is going to be made mostly of aluminum. So it's going to be fairly light about 18 pounds. So, with this basket style carrier, it is a great addition to our CX-5. It is an aluminum construction, which makes it very easy to lift on and off, as well as keeping that quality and nice finish, it's going to last for many years to come. One thing that I really like about it as well, is how it is on the lower side, so if you happen to have those heavier items that you don't really want to lift up, let's say you had a cargo box on top of your car, you have the option of putting them in the basket right here. So, if you happen to have some muddy items like camping gear, maybe something that is a little on the heavier side as well, that you don't want to move in and out like a cooler, this would be a great choice.Also, as you can see, it gives us plenty of room in order to access our hatch here, as we'll do so now. Today, on our 2016 Mazda CX5, we're going to be taking a look at the max tow, 30 by 50 wheelchair carrier with 48 inch long ramp. Part number MT70106. This wheel chair and scooter carrier is going to be great whether you have a wheelchair, a scooter, or any other wheeled equipment that you need to carry around. The ramp's going to make it that much easier, allowing us to drive up, or push up or wheeled cargo and get it right here in our carrier. Our ramp here is going to roughly, right about 28 inches wide. Right about 48 inches long. There's a few more measurements I'd like to give you, because we are going to be adding quite a bit of real estate to the back of our car. Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Mazda CX-5- Video

Today on our 2016 Mazda CX5 we're going to be taking a look at the 20 by 48 Curt Cargo Carrier, part number C18110. Now this cargo carrier is going to be great getting any dirty or wet gear out of your car and making room for passengers or pets. Now we can see that the floor is a nice mesh bottom so we're not going to have to worry about any debris sticking in there. It's going to be super easy to clean. Now the walls, not only are they going to have nice attachment points, so we don't have to worry about finding a tie-down point for your gear, but it's also going to come in right about 3". So we're going to have that extra support from keeping things from falling out. Now overall this cargo carrier's going to add right about 28" to the total length of our vehicle. more

Today on our 2007 Mazda 5 we're going to be test fitting 20 by 48 Curt cargo carrier for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number C18110. This has a carrying capacity of 300 pounds. It has this nice mesh floor in the bottom here which is going to make it easy to clean. And we have these points all the way around the cargo carrier which will serve as tie down points for either your ratchet straps or your bungee cords. Measuring from the edge of the bumper to our outer edge, we've added 27 inches to the rear of the vehicle. Ground clearance is going to be about 14 and half inches and then our closest point is going to be about seven and a half inches to this edge. From the center of the hitch you can hold it at the same point. more

Surco Products Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2007 Mazda 5- Video

Today on our 2007 Mazda 5, we're going to be test-fitting the 20 by 48" Surco cargo carrier for inch-and-a-quarter hitches, part number 52017. This has a carrying capacity of 300 lbs. It has this nice mesh floor here which is going to make it easy to clean, and then we have this railing all the way around the cargo carrier which can serve as a tie-down point for either your ratchet straps or your bungee cords. Measuring from the edge of our bumper to the outer edge here, we've added about 24-and-a-half inches to the rear of the vehicle. The ground clearance is about 11 inches, and the closest point is going to be about three inches to this edge here, and from the center of the hitch pin hole to that same point, it's going to be about seven inches, so just keep that in mind if you have a different style hitch installed on your Mazda 5. The exhaust is going to be on the driver's side, but it's facing slightly down and it's about eight inches away from the cargo carrier, so if you we're worried about it, you might want to put more heat-sensitive material more towards the passenger side. With nothing in it, we have full access to our rear hatch, but I'm going to go ahead and give you a break-over point measurement, and that's the measurement of where your hatch would come into contact with whatever it is you're hauling. That looks to be about 16 inches, so just keep that measurement in mind when you're loading up your gear. This does not come with a pin and clip to attach it to the hitch, although you could find one on our website. Today we used part number PC2. more

With its sturdy steel construction it's going to offer a 500 pound weight capacity. Keep in mind that these are for your two inch receivers only, and it's going to be part number CC-100. We'll start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement: from the backside of the bumper, to the front side of the cargo carrier. It's going to be about two inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle is going to be about 25-and-a-half inches, and our ground clearance, at the backside and bottom of the shank, is going to be about nine-and-a-half inches to the bolt that secures that. Now this rack does have the unique feature of folding up, as well, into a stow position. Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2009 Mazda 5- Video

Today on the 2009 Mazda 5, we're going to show you the Curt Cargo Carrier for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number C18110. First we're going to go ahead and show you the bushing that converts this from a 1 1/4 shank up to 2 inch shank. Basically just snaps into place and when it is inside the hitch it will hold together. However in this case in our Mazda 5 has the class 1 1/4 receiver hitch, we don't need this bushing. Let's go ahead and just pop it off to the side. Let's go ahead and put it into our receiver hitch and we'll line up the threaded hole with the existing hole in the hitch. Okay now we'll go ahead and put our hitch pin or bolt, we'll go ahead and put it in and we'll thread it down. more

Today on our 2015 Mazda CX-5 we're going to be test fitting the 20 x 60 Folding Cart Cargo Carrier for 2-inch hitches with a 500-pound weight capacity. Its part number is C18131. To begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of our carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we do it, we'll want to look through the pinhole here and see when we get the hole and the carrier lined up with it. With that lined up, we're now going to take a standard pin, slide it through and secure it on this side with the clip. Now with our cargo carrier in this position, we're going to get some measurements for you to let you know exactly how much clearance you have. It looks like here at the rear of the rack we're going to have about 10-3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance. As you can see, the rack is really close here to the back of the Mazda. more

Closest point to our vehicle is about 5 inches away and overall weve added about 28 inches to the total length of our CX5.When opening our rear hatch it breaks over the plane of our carrier at about 23 inches. more
